Light Up North X Divine Savages

Light Up North X Divine Savages

19-22 September 2018 London Olympia

We are so excitied to be working with London print house Divine Savages to create a daring new innovation in wall covering - illuminated wallpaper – launching at 100% Forward at this year’s 100% Design.

You know how much we love a collaboration, and this one is massive. We are so excited to talk about our new friends and collaborators Jamie and Tom from Divine Savages. Let me introduce them.

“The Divine Savages story began in 2012 in South East London when we were finally able to get on the property ladder and buy our first home. We put our shared passion for quirky interiors and styling to good use and set out to do interiors our own way, but we struggled to find what we wanted. So we began designing our own homewares, accessories and artwork and when friends and family came to visit they kept asking where we sourced them from. The seed of an idea was planted, and we dreamt about potentially selling our range one day.”

If you are able to visit us at 100% Forward and you will be invited to break away from traditional wallcoverings, to explore this new innovation in interior design and to discover the intricate possibilities this vibrant material can offer. Paired with Divine Savages’ statement Nocturnal Faunacation wallpaper, a jungle inspired print for style-it-dark fans, as well as their latest Crane Fonda design featuring elegant crested cranes amongst lush palm trees, the installation will show wallpaper in a totally new light. Literally, a new Light.

“We’re obsessed with pattern and print, so wallcoverings were always going to be at the heart of what we do, injecting colour and bold design into interiors. We’re so excited to be able to take this to the next level using a brand-new technology like EL neon wire” says Jamie Watkins, co-founder of Divine Savages.

You will have seen them all over insta, Divine Savages are the hottest name in wall coverings this autumn, hell, the whole of 2018. This must be a truth, its demonstrated by the fact that they have collaborations all over London interior design fairs this week. Their wallpapers are featured in no less than three! Its going to be a busy couple of weeks, you would forgive anyone for feeling a little agitated or stressed, but not these guys they are cool and collected.

“We’ve learnt to just enjoy this crazy ride we’ve jumped on; our passion is for design-led interiors and we want to create designs and products that people love just as much as we do. We have huge ideas and plans for where we want to take the brand over the next few years but have learned to do things at a pace that suits us. We’ve been overwhelmed by the support on Instagram of people wanting to follow our journey and this is fantastic; we know it doesn’t have to be a mad rush but that the brand can evolve naturally over time.”

I can tell how hard these guys are working, they have truly been in partnership on this project and they have led on lots of the press and social media work. I know when I get emails at 10pm on a Sunday night that someone is really putting in a shift. I’m really grateful for all the hard work they have brought to this project.

The collaboration will be part of this year’s 100% Forward – a platform to showcase emerging design talent. Curated by Barbara Chandler, design editor of Homes & Property at the London Evening Standard, 100% Forward will be the lead feature at this year’s 100% Design, welcoming visitors to the event with a space that’s guaranteed to inform, intrigue, inspire and impress. Light up North has been nominated for this event by Philip Watts Design, and we are thrilled. to have a spotlight shone on us from Olympia is a sesmic opportunity that we all intend to grab with both hands.

if you are at the event or in London please do get in touch, it would be great to show you some more of our work!

Since the launch of their online boutique in October 2017, the Divine Savages brand has become synonymous with bold, daring design. After being shortlisted as a finalist at this year’s Spotted Awards, the duo collaborated with Oliver Thomas from BBC’s Great Interior Design Challenge at Grand Designs Live to create a Maximalist masterpiece design-room wrapped in their signature Faunacation wallpaper. Divine Savages also featured in this year’s Eporta X WGSN Interiors Trend Report, which highlights the year’s must-have interior trends.
