How do I power my sign?
Our EL neon wire pictures and signs can be powered by mains or battery power. We recommend using a normal mains electrical socket as we find it more reliable. We supply a mains adapter with each piece. We can also supply a battery pack (8 x 1.5v AA) should you wish to use your sign in a location where no mains power is available. It is possible to interchange from mains to battery pack, just let us know if this would work for you.
What is Electro illuminescent neon wire?
Electroluminescent wire (EL Neon wire) has a stiff copper wire core, coated with phosphor and then covered with a protective PVC coating. When an AC signal is applied to it, it glows. It looks a little like thin neon. It is extremely economical to run and gives off hardly any heat. It was originally used for high end car dash boards and we are reimagining it creatively.
How long will it last?
All lighting products have what’s called a half light. It is suggested that EL neon wire brightness will become half as bright after 2800 - 3000 hours running at 2000Hz. This is based on 6 to 8 hours on each day and powered off the rest of the day. This is not to say that it will expire. Please see our terms of sale, we will be happy to maintain your sign for you if you think that the wire needs refreshing in years to come.

My light makes a buzz noise, is that
The sign itself will make no noise. The inverter, or driver, as it is also known, generates a high frequency electrical pulse. This is needed to make the wire glow. This high frequency can sometimes be audible but this can be greatly reduced by either turning the driver onto its side, or even upside down. A small amount of tape wrapped around the driver can also be useful to stop vibration, however, care should be taken to ensure the driver is not completely covered as it needs to be able to dissipate its heat in the air.
How long do they take?
Our usual lead time is four weeks for bespoke and tailored pieces. However if your deadline is more urgent, do drop us a line and we will see what we can do. We will always try our best to accommodate your timeframes. We run our own workshop, and our team will always try their hardest to work some magic, in return for a bag of jelly babies. At times of high demand we might have to increase our lead times. If this is the case we will be in contact to let you know.
To ensure you don't miss your desired date we would always recommned leaving plenty of time for your order.
